This post brought to you by the London Underground Worker Strike - June 2009.
On Sunday Megan and I went to the Tower of London (culture/history lesson in case this ever comes up on a game show... actually not a tower). We took a little tour and then saw the CROWN JEWELS!! yes, my life is complete. There was also an exhibit about Henry VIII... that man was excellent at propoganda regarding himself. Then we went to HERRODS!!!!!!!! Also very excited for both Megan and myself, seeing as our entire lives we would be brought things from Herrods.
Monday I went to changing of the gaurd. Then the class had a site visit to BBC, not as fun as I had hoped. But then again, I spent the majority of the visit focusing on not coughing. That night I went to see 'A Little Night Music' first row. Basically the equivalent of high def in the theatre world, it was awesome to see the actors' expressions so clearly.
Tuesday was a site visit to IBM. That is a company with some awesome social responsibility mission statement. I was very, very impressed. And some fun facts... the company turns 100 this year and no longer makes PCs. That evening the Underground strike started... basically causing mass chaos in the city (to the point where they were discussing shutting the city down). Due to strike I took the bus to see Carousel and afterward GOT TO GO BACKSTAGE AND MEET THE LEAD!!! It was so cool to see backstage, especially because it was such an old theatre and therefore they had basically no wing space.
And now here I am. I attempted to go out for a little sight-seeing this morning, but that streets are crazy crowded because of the strike and the bus system is flooded way over capacity making it hard to get anywhere and to top it off it is raining, of course.
So excited to come home on friday, especially because I can watch the hockey game!!
