"The Romans were there and they built that crap" -my mom

The beginning of this week was rather uneventful. Doing so much caught up to me, and this week we actually had homework due (crazy how they expect you to learn something while studying abroad) so in the mornings I was far more focused on writing my paper, doing group work, and sleeping. But at night I did check out some great restaurants with other people from my program. Lots of good food to be had in London, just like in mke you have to know where to look!
Thursday night Megan O'Neill got into town for a visit, but as my entire technological life went haywire this weekend I was unable to reach her by phone... each and every time it came up as 'call lost.' The next morning my phone still continued to not work, so I had no idea what to do. I tried every location on campus to get better reception... no dice. Then I borrowed someone's calling card... still no luck. So I decided to set out on a journey to try to find Megan in the city, knowing only that she was trying to stick near the bakerloo tube line. I bought an international cell phone as well in an attempt to reach her, which still didn't work. And while paying for it my debit card was rejected. And then to add insult to injury, there I am coughing up a lung in the phone store and the guy asks if it's a smoker's cough. (it's not, it's this stupid weather changing drastically every day.... hmm sounds like milwaukee) I then try to stalk megan down at her hostel by leaving her a note (and being a great friend by checking up on the level of attractiveness of the male guests) I then set out to find her in picadilly circus, one of my stupider ideas i must admit. I make my way back to school defeated and decide to eat something... and just as I am about to go to my room i get a call from megan saying she is sitting in my room as we speak... aka she is a far better stalker. I rejoice that she is alive and I will not have to call the embassy and we headed to camden market by way of PLATFORM NINE AND THREE-QUARTERS!!! I must say it was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my trip/life. That night we went to Waxy O'Conners and O'Neill's (where megan took about 40 pictures of signs with her last name on it).
This morning my lack of luck with technology continued when I went to print our tickets for stonehenge/bath. Gmail was not working. I try three computers and every way to access it i can think of to no avail. Get to to the bus stop (where Megan makes it just in time) and oh, guess what? they don't need our tickets anyway. VICTORY! So we board the bus and head to Bath. So incredible. An absolutely adorable gem of a city (and i saw johnny depp's front door!). And my mom was right the baths are cool... and as the title suggets the romans were there and they just decided to build this stuff. Seeing their version of the hot tub did make me long for mine though. Next up was stonehenge. SO COOL! yes, i am a dork, deal with it. Though incredibly ambigous. The guided tour of it kinda reminded me of the awkward part of a marquette tour at 16th & Wisconsin where I say every random maybe-not-totally-correct fact about everything on that corner while we wait for the light to change. (For non-golden eagles, another good example is the Twickam house museum in gilmore girls season 5). Even still, wondering why on earth people would construct that and what it was used for was fascinating. I also bought an earth friendly stonehenge bag, just because on principle of the things i felt that needed to be supported. Overall a fantastic day trip.

Now for your reading pleasure (something to read between hockey periods) things i am super pumped to do when i get back state side:
1. be able to text people again when something happens to me
2. eat good ketchup without having to carry around my own bottle
3. watch gilmore girls at 11 and 5 est
4. hot tub
5. sleep in a bed that is not essentially a yoga mat
6. not have to walk a day's journey to my room and to the bathroom
7. have my computer back
8. watch twilight (though i will miss reading a story about Rob Pattison every night in the london times)
9. eat coney, buddy's, middle eastern, chinese, kopp's, and the palms chicken sandwich
10. not have to worry about carrying around pounds of pounds

go wings!!!
